New Car Protection

Just bought a new car?

The best time to protect a car is while it still looks new — not after months of sun, rain and car washes.

Protecting it early is the easiest way to keep that showroom look with less effort. It helps you maintain:

  • Paint appearance
  • Depth of gloss
  • Cleanliness between washes
  • Ease of maintenance
  • Interior surfaces (Complete Protection)

You don't need to be a car enthusiast. If you want your new car to keep looking new, this is for you.

What Sydney throws at your paint

  • UV exposureStrong Australian sun contributes to oxidation and fading over time.
  • Bird droppingsAcidic — can etch the clear coat if left to sit in the heat.
  • Tree sapSticky, hard to remove and prone to marking the surface.
  • Road grimeTraffic film, brake dust and fallout cling to unprotected paint.
  • ContaminationIndustrial and environmental fallout bonds to the surface over time.

"Brand new" doesn't always mean perfect.

Between the factory, transport, storage and dealer preparation, some new cars arrive with marks you only notice under the right light. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it — so we inspect every car before anything is applied.

That's why every protection package includes a machine polish for gloss enhancement before the coating goes on — a one-stage enhancement, not paint correction. If inspection shows deeper defects, we'll explain what we see and recommend Paint Correction + Protection instead — never by default. How we prepare paint

What we sometimes find on new cars

  • Light wash marks
  • Dealership preparation marks
  • Minor swirls
  • Transport and handling marks
Ceramic Coating

What professional ceramic protection actually does

A ceramic coating bonds to your paint and cures into a thin, hard, glossy layer. We're selling the result, not the bottle: correct preparation and careful application are what make it look and perform the way it should.

  • Enhanced Gloss

Deeper colour and sharper reflections on well-prepared paint.

  • Hydrophobic Behaviour

Water beads and sheets off, carrying loose dirt with it.

  • Easier Maintenance

Grime releases with less scrubbing, reducing wash-induced marks.

  • UV & Contamination Resistance

A protective layer between your clear coat and the elements.

  • Long-Term Protection

Longer-lasting than waxes or sealants — depending on product and care.

Ceramic coating compared with paint protection film

Ceramic Coating

What we specialise in
  • Gloss, easier cleaning and everyday environmental protection
  • Helps resist UV, contamination and chemical staining
  • Ideal for keeping a new car looking new with less effort
  • Not scratch-proof, and it won't stop stone chips

Paint Protection Film (PPF)

A different product for a different job
  • A clear, physical film applied over panels
  • Designed to absorb impacts such as stone chips
  • Typically applied to high-impact areas or the full car
  • Can be combined with a ceramic coating

If stone-chip protection is your priority, look at PPF. If you want a car that stays glossy and is far easier to maintain, ceramic coating is the right fit — and we'll tell you honestly which one suits you.

We bring professional detailing equipment, products and preparation directly to your home — or your workplace, when it's suitable.

We bring

  • Professional polishing & coating equipment
  • Paint inspection lighting
  • Decontamination & preparation products
  • Professional-grade coating products

Confirmed before booking

  • A garage, carport or suitable covered workspace
  • Adequate space to work around the car
  • Suitable access to the vehicle
  • Expected weather and temperature on the day
Controlled conditions are part of the job

Professional ceramic coating needs the right environment: out of direct sun, rain and dust, at a suitable temperature, with time to cure. Depending on the weather, the temperature, your car's condition and the coating process, a garage, carport or covered workspace may be required. We plan this with you before booking, so the result is never compromised.

Step by Step

Preparation is most of the job

A coating locks in whatever is underneath it. Every protection job follows the same sequence.

  1. Vehicle Assessment

We look over the paint, wheels, glass and interior and confirm what your car needs.

  2. Wash & Decontamination

A careful wash, then removal of bonded contamination — chemical, and mechanical where needed.

  3. Paint Inspection

The clean paint is checked under inspection lighting to see its true condition.

  4. Paint Preparation

Machine polish for gloss enhancement, then surfaces prepared for bonding. Two-stage correction only when booked.

  5. Ceramic Coating

Applied panel by panel in suitable conditions, then levelled and checked under light.

  6. Final Inspection & Aftercare

A final walk-around together, plus clear instructions on curing and washing.

Preparation. Craftsmanship. Application. Result.

Paint Enhancement & Correction

What if my paint needs polishing?

There are two levels of polishing, and we're precise about the difference. Many businesses call any polish "correction". We don't.

How we decide

After washing and decontamination, the paint is inspected under lighting. For new cars and cars in good condition, the gloss-enhancement polish included in your package is all it needs. If we find deeper swirls or defects, we'll show you and quote Paint Correction + Protection — nothing extra is done without your approval.

Paint Protection Film

PPF — physical protection where it's needed

Ceramic coating helps protect the finish from contamination and makes maintenance easier. PPF adds a transparent physical barrier against chips, scratches, scuffs and high-contact wear. Many owners use both.

About Need for Studio

Owner-operated. Personal service.

The Studio Comes to You.

What started as a passion for detailing in Brazil became a profession in Australia. After building hands-on experience across professional detailing environments, Need for Studio was created to bring professional-level preparation, protection and finish directly to the customer.

The person who talks with you about your car is the person who works on it. That means consistent workmanship, direct communication, an individual assessment of every vehicle — and only recommending what your car genuinely needs.

Our Story

Detailing began as a genuine hobby in Brazil — hours spent learning how paint, products and technique come together to make a car look its best.

After moving to Australia, that passion became professional work. Working in different professional detailing environments meant exposure to a wide range of vehicles, processes, techniques and standards — and a clear view of what separates a quick job from a properly prepared one.

Need for Studio brings that experience together in one hands-on, owner-operated business: careful preparation, honest advice and professional protection, delivered at your home or workplace.

Why Need for Studio

What you can expect from us

  • Protection-Focused

We specialise in protecting cars — not in quick washes.

  • Owner-Operated

FAQ

Ceramic coating questions, answered

Still unsure? Ask us in the quote form — we'll give you a straight answer.

What is ceramic coating?

A liquid protective coating applied by hand. It bonds to the clear coat and cures into a thin, hard, glossy layer that repels water and contamination and makes the car easier to clean.

Is ceramic coating worth it on a new car?

A new car is the ideal candidate: the paint is at its best, preparation is usually lighter, and you protect it before wear builds up. If you want the car to stay glossy with easier upkeep, it's worth considering.

Does a brand-new car need polishing before coating?

Both protection packages include a machine polish for gloss enhancement, so the coating goes onto the best possible surface. It is a one-stage enhancement — not paint correction. Full two-stage correction is only needed when the paint has more significant defects — we inspect first and quote it separately if required.

What's the difference between Exterior and Complete Protection?

Exterior Protection covers the outside: paint, wheel faces, windshield, headlights and exterior plastics. Complete Protection includes all of that plus interior preparation and protection for leather, vinyl, fabric and interior surfaces. Not sure? Choose "Not sure" in the quote form.

How much does ceramic coating cost?

Exterior Protection starts from $999 and Complete Protection from $1,299, for vehicles in good condition. Final pricing depends on vehicle size, paint condition and preparation. Paint Correction + Protection is quoted individually. Detailing: Maintenance Wash from $150, Full Detail from $450, Interior Deep Clean from $499, Paint Enhancement from $699. Starting prices are for a standard car; larger vehicles start higher, and the form estimates this for you.

Is Paint Enhancement the right choice if I only want the exterior looking better?

Usually yes. It's an exterior-only service: wash, decontamination, a one-stage machine polish and a spray sealant for gloss and short-term protection. It isn't Paint Correction and it doesn't include ceramic coating or interior work — if you want long-term protection, a protection package is the better fit.

Do you offer window tinting or dash cam installation?

Yes — both are arranged through our specialist installation partners rather than carried out by us. Message us on WhatsApp with your vehicle and we'll come back with a quote.

What's the difference between PPF and ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating is a chemical layer: gloss, easier washing and protection from contamination. PPF (paint protection film) is a physical transparent film that takes the hit from chips, scratches and scuffs. They do different jobs and are often combined.

What areas are commonly protected with PPF?

The places that get damaged first: door handle cups, door edges and the boot loading sill. Beyond that, headlights, piano-black trims and front-end panels such as the bumper, bonnet and guards.

Can PPF be installed at my home?

Small, high-contact applications often can. Larger work such as Full Front PPF is quoted individually and confirmed based on the vehicle and installation requirements — a suitable covered workspace may be required.

Can a used car have ceramic coating?

Yes. Exterior and Complete Protection suit well-kept used cars as well as new ones. If the paint has significant swirls or defects, it will need Paint Correction first — we'll tell you honestly after seeing it.

What's the difference between Full Detail and Interior Deep Clean?

A Full Detail is a complete inside-and-out detail for a car in normal condition. An Interior Deep Clean is intensive interior work — shampoo, extraction and heavy soiling — for interiors that need much more than a normal detail. Neither includes machine polishing.

Is my preferred date confirmed when I book?

Not yet. We review your location, travel, the time your car needs and our schedule, then contact you to confirm the date and time.

Which ceramic coating do you use?

We use professional-grade ceramic protection and focus on the preparation and application that make it perform. We're happy to discuss the specific product during your consultation.

How long does ceramic coating take?

It depends on the vehicle's size and condition, the package and the preparation needed. We'll give you a time estimate with your quote, along with how long the car should be kept dry while the coating cures.

Can ceramic coating be applied at my home?

Yes — at your home, or at your workplace when it's suitable. We confirm the location before booking: the car needs to be out of direct sun, rain and dust while we work.

Do I need a garage?

Often, yes — or a carport or other suitable covered workspace. It depends on the weather, temperature, your car's condition and the coating process. Describe your space in the quote form and we'll confirm before booking.

Does ceramic coating prevent scratches?

No. It adds some resistance to light marring and makes safe washing easier, but it won't make paint scratch-proof or stop stone chips. Anyone promising otherwise is overselling.

Ceramic coating vs PPF — what's the difference?

PPF is a physical film designed to absorb impacts like stone chips. Ceramic coating is a thin, hard layer for gloss, easier cleaning and environmental protection. They solve different problems and can be combined.

How should I wash the car after coating?

Gently: a pH-neutral car shampoo, clean wash mitts and the two-bucket method, and avoid automatic brush car washes. You'll receive aftercare guidance after your service.

How soon after buying a new car should I protect it?

The earlier the better — less time for contamination and wash marks to build up. If you haven't picked it up yet, tell us your expected delivery date and we can plan around it.

Your new car deserves protection from day one.

Share a few details and we'll recommend the right package for your car.
